Adam Branford has been a Queens Scout, Primary School Teacher, Funeral Director’s Assistant, Safety Officer, Outback Tour Guide and Airport Operations Officer. He has travelled extensively across Australia by four-wheel drive, is a rally competitor, explored and mapped caves, and somehow made it to his early fifties by undertaking a range of adventurous pursuits. As Adam has become older, but not necessarily wiser, he has realised that the journey is often more interesting and exciting than the destination.
Currently residing in Mount Gambier, South Australia with his partner and Staffy Dave, Adam takes utter delight in travelling to interesting and out the way places, sometimes using a means of transport not ideally suited to the journey. When not at work or home, he can often be spotted hunting geocaches, getting bogged in the four-wheel drive, crapping himself in rally cars, trying to ride motorbikes, reading travel books, or poring over maps in anticipation, planning his next adventure.
I have travelled extensively throughout Australia by 4WD on remote and out of the way tracks including the Anne Beadell Highway, Simpson Desert, Googs Track and the Gawler Ranges, Fraser Island, Victorian High Country, SA/VIC Border Track, Oodnadatta, Strezlecki and Birdsville Tracks, Northern Territory Red Centre, Maralinga, Flinders and Gammon Ranges and Outback Queensland.
I've completed two tuk tuk adventures in India; one across the subcontinent as in the book 'Cows, Curries and Chaos' and the other from Leh, Ladakh to Shimla across the Indian Himalaya. The book from this adventure is currently being written and will be titled 'Monkeys, Mountains and Mayhem'. My third tuk tuk adventure is currently being planned for Sri Lanka.
Other adventures completed include bushwalking in the Grampians, Great South West Walk, High Country and Adelaide Hills; cross-country ski touring in the Victorian Alps; Caving in South Australia, Victorian and Tasmanian Karst areas and found over 7000 geocaches in Australia, India, Indonesia and New Zealand.
You can follow my adventures in several ways. I will be adding to my blog on a regular basis, particularly around the time of trips. Blogs will also include details regarding my books and time frames around releases. I occasionally do author talks and presentations, which will also be mentioned from time to time on here. Feel free to promote my website and books to get the message out there... Live an Adventure!
